What is the Best Type of Teeth Whitening Treatment?

In recent years more and more people have been looking to improve their smiles. From total transformation to enhancing the colour of their teeth, there is a need for many different procedures and practices to help create the perfect smile. Tooth whitening is one of the most desirable dental treatments, with 41% of people saying they wanted to undergo the treatment in a recent survey.

There are so many different teeth whitening options, though. From toothpaste that claims to whiten teeth and other teeth whitening treatments, it can be challenging to understand which ones are the best option to go for. At Bespoke Dental & Implant Clinic, we specialise in providing you with treatments that deliver results and are safe for you and your teeth.

Why is Teeth Whitening so Popular?

Teeth change colour with age, so many people associate whiter teeth with being young. Ordinary people believe having whiter teeth can make a person look five years younger, more intelligent and wealthier. With all this in mind, it’s no wonder people are looking for ways to improve the appearance of their teeth.

White teeth don’t necessarily mean healthy teeth, and vice versa. We have seen many different shades of healthy teeth over our years of looking after teeth. But it is a stereotype that British people tend to have bad teeth, and with that association, darker or stained teeth are considered flawed.

Teeth whitening returns your smile to the brightness associated with youth and can help you gain confidence in your smile. It is a custom treatment that you can control and allows for a smile makeover, which is why we think it has become so popular.

Getting an Expert Opinion

The best teeth whitening treatments aren’t available from a box. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to teeth whitening, and it’s hard to look at a box and determine if it will work for you. It’s also important to understand that teeth whitening falls under the scope of dentistry and should always be carried out by a trained professional. This way, you keep yourself safe and get the expert treatment you deserve. Treatments performed by someone other than a trained dentist are illegal in the UK and should be avoided at all times.

The best approach is always to speak to a trained dental consultant about any issues you have with the colour of your teeth. We have a team of experts on hand to offer professional teeth whitening in Manchester, who will be able to go through your options in more detail. However, we’re highlighting two of the best options for whitening teeth.

At-Home Teeth Whitening Treatments

There are many at-home teeth whitening gels and treatments available to you when looking for options to get a brighter smile. The best approach is to speak to your dentist about options to whiten your teeth at home. All teeth whitening treatments feature a level of bleaching agent, so having the advice of an expert is essential.

Boutique is the at-home teeth whitening treatment we offer at Bespoke Dental and Implant Clinic. It is a take-home solution with a variety of different peroxide gel formulas. Each gel has its own features, including different gels for use during the day and night and options that take a shorter time than others. During your teeth whitening consultation, we will recommend the best gel formula for you based on the current colour of your teeth and your goals.

Your chosen gel is applied to a tray which sits in your mouth during periods at home. The Boutique trays are not custom made, so they may feel strange in your mouth.

In addition to the gels, you will be given Biomin toothpaste to help with sensitivity during the treatment. The Boutique method is tailored to your needs and takes into account your teeth’s unique aspects.

The process is relatively simple. First, you will be given a kit to keep in your fridge; this includes a set of syringes containing your gel. Then, when ready, you put the gel onto the mouth tray and fit it in place. Once you have worn your mouth tray for the amount of time required, you will remove it and brush your teeth and the mouth tray.

In-Clinic Teeth Whitening Options

In-Clinic options include everything from laser treatment for whitening to custom-made gels to match your requirements.

At Bespoke Dental, we offer Enlighten as our in-clinic teeth whitening option. This solution mixes in-clinic and at-home procedures over two weeks. It has a guaranteed B1 shade for your teeth (in 98% of cases) and offers an extraordinarily comfortable solution.

With this method, your dentist will take a mould of your teeth to create a customised mouth tray. Then you will receive a kit to take home and use, which should be kept in the fridge. The kit will include a tooth serum which you should brush your teeth with each day. You will wear the trays for up to 8 hours each night or whenever you sleep.

What if Teeth Whitening isn’t an Option?

In some cases, your dentist will advise against teeth whitening treatment. This will be due to other oral health issues, and they will be able to advise which other methods that would be preferable for your case.

We have found that when teeth whitening isn’t an option, our clients have been able to restore their smiles with treatments such as dental veneers or crowns. If you are looking for a smile makeover in Manchester, we can discuss these options in more detail with you.

The Best Teeth Whitening Treatments

No single teeth whitening treatment suits everyone as each mouth is so unique. The best teeth whitening treatment for you will be the one proposed by a dentist after undergoing a full consultation.
