About Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a long-term solution to missing teeth. A discreet titanium fixture which replaces the root of your tooth. Once the jawbone fuses with the Implant it is secured in place. A prosthesis can then be fitted to the healed Implant such as individual crowns, Bridges or Dentures. Our expertise provides you with a seamless and predictable journey.
Dental Implants are the most advanced solution dentistry has to offer. Implants can be used to replace as little as one missing tooth or even a full set of teeth. With the most up-to-date techniques, we are able to incorporate crowns, bridges and dentures onto the implants. Depending on your needs and desires, we are here to help you achieve your goals. With our advanced skill set, you will be able to enjoy the treatment journey without stress and have a clear vision of the completion date.
Your Dental Implant Journey
1. Examination:
– Examining condition and prognosis of current jaws, teeth, soft tissues and facial profile.
– Considering medical conditions and suitability.
– Requesting blood tests as necessary.
2. Scan:
A 3D scan is taken in house to reveal the structure of the jaws in 3D. This unique technology allows the surgeon to assess the quantity and quality of the bone, locate vital structures (e.g. nerves) and plan the position of the final implant and crown before the procedure. With such advancements we are able to accurately inform patients if and how dental implant treatment will work for them.
3. Report:
A thorough report is written up explaining the various options to reconstruct your mouth using dental implants. This report will include CT scan images and can be taken anywhere in the world. It will detail costs, benefits and risks of the procedure and a time scale to complete the treatment. Majority of questions are all answered within the report including before and after care.
4. Surgery:
Performed under local anesthesia or sedation, the implant surgery involves placing the titanium post into the jawbone. The complexity of the surgery varies depending on the number of implants and the patient’s specific needs.
5. Review:
We always like to see you within 2 weeks after the surgery to ensure you are receiving the very best of care and optimum healing.
6. Impression:
Healing times differ for everyone and your surgeon will discuss this with you. Once the implant has fused to the bone it is ready for a final impression/ digital scan upon which the technician will craft a bespoke dental implant prosthesis (crown/bridge/denture).
7. Fit:
The Dental implant prosthesis will be fitted and adjusted to ensure it works harmoniously within your dentition.
8. Follow-Up:
Follow ups can be done with your own dentist if you are being referred, or you can choose to have them with your surgeon. We recommend 6 monthly for the first year and then annual inspections thereafter.

ANSWER
No. Dental Implants are not infallible. At Bespoke Dental & Implant Clinic we believe in being open and honest about all of our treatments. Dental Implants require precision surgery and meticulous oral hygiene to maintain them. In the right candidate with appropriate care they can last a life time. However, similar to natural teeth, if the gingival health is not maintained bacteria can accumulate around dental implants causing gum disease; bleeding of the gums, recession and implant thread exposure. The human body is always changing throughout our lifetime and severe medical conditions which affect the blood, bone density or rare conditions such as cancer will impact the quality of the bone surrounding the implants and will reduce their longevity.
In our report we detail the condition of your oral health, comment on your general medical status and list all relevant risk factors which you should be aware of. When you come to Bespoke Dental & Implant Clinic for dental implants in Manchester & London, you can be assured you are in safe hands, contact us to discuss your suitability.
ANSWER
All adults with stable oral health and generally stable medical conditions are suitable. At the Bespoke Dental & Implant Clinic we are very meticulous about suitability. If for any reason we find any risk factors which may affect the treatment, this will be explained in full from the offset.
ANSWER
We would advise you to floss and brush twice a day in order to maintain a healthy mouth. Following the first year of having dental implants fitted we advise 6 monthly assessments and an annual inspection at our Salford clinic thereafter. In addition, visiting the Dental Hygienist twice a year will provide the supportive therapy you need.
ANSWER
If you are deemed unsuitable for Dental Implant surgery, the Dental Surgeon will justify their reasons and provide alternative options. It may be a case of improving the gum health before embarking upon surgery, or considering a non-surgical option. We are here to put our patients best interests first.
ANSWER
As early as 2000 BC in ancient china carved bamboo pegs were used to replace missing teeth. Metal replacement of teeth was first noted in an Egyptian King who lived in approximately 1000BC. Over the years there is archaeological evidence of different materials being used to replace missing teeth.
The major breakthrough was in 1952 when by chance an Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Branemark discovered that titanium fused to the femur (thigh bone) of rabbits. The discovery then led to the first titanium dental implant in a human volunteer in 1965. Since this discovery of titanium dental implants have undergone multiple modifications helping us achieve up to 99% success.
